Hearts Delight

Central New York contradance band Hearts Delight consists of David Smukler on fiddle or calling, Laurel Sharp on whistle and recorder, Eileen Nicholson on fiddle, Zeke Smukler on mandolin, banjo, and other instruments, and John Wobus on piano. David is a well-known CNY contradance caller, instrumentalist, and organizer who also calls English Country Dances. David has been in many bands including For Old Times Sake and Three Wheel Drive. Laurel plays a mean whistle and has been known to throw in a bit of bombard or digeridoo. Laurel is also in Three Wheel Drive as well as Two Laurels (with Laurie Hart) and Near Mrs . Eileen grew up playing both violin and fiddle and adds a smooth sound to ensemble. Eileen also often plays for contradances and English Country Dances with Tom Hodgson, and plays for English Country Dances with John. Zeke grew up in a household filled with music and has mastered a plethora of instruments, usually playing the mandolin for the group. John, who provides the group's rhythm, is also in Contranella with Megan and Charley Beller and Rosie's Ready Mix, with Hope Grietzer and Curt Osgood.
